US Open Champion Gary Woodland. I’ve got this……..

Watching the US OPEN, played at Pebble Beach this past weekend, was a real sporting treat.

Not only to watch the very best scramble it out on a course designed to punish errant shots with double bogeys, but for the INSPIRATIONAL STORY which played out in front of millions around the world on YouTube……….

With World Number One and two-time US Open Champion Brooks Koepka breathing down his neck on Sunday, Gary Woodland had to produce something very special to be crowned the new US OPEN CHAMPION.

He did it in style, accrediting his victory to a special Olympian golfer Amy Bockerstette, who he had met earlier this year.

Amy inspired him with her love for golf and love for life – and helped him find the perfect way to keep any doubts from creeping in on Sunday.

Here’s her affirmation – which became his affirmation on Sunday afternoon.

On becoming the US OPEN Champion, Gary Woodland had the following to say:

Life’s not always going to be bells and whistles. There are going to be bad things in your life, a lot of ups and downs, but the only thing you can control is your attitude. And if you do that, in the end good things will happen.

That’s what the champion golfers do so well.

They learn to FOCUS on the good things – believing in themselves and believing that good things will happen.

They cast aside any doubt.

Most amateur golfers do the exact opposite by focusing on all the bad things – and what can go wrong.

Mind Coach David Becker captures it brilliantly:

Never confuse the most important part of you – your subconscious mind. You cannot have thoughts of victory and defeat in your mind at the same time. The subconscious mind has the power to send sabotaging messages to your body. All it takes is a kernel of doubt”

Together, Gary Woodland and Amy Bockerstette showed the world the power of Affirmation, Belief and Confidence – the ABC of champions.

E-Power will play a massive role as Sanzaar’s Super 16 heats up this weekend.

Sanzaar’s Super 16 Rugby heats up this coming weekend – and E-Power is likely to play a massive role.

E-Power, Emotional-Power – is when a team or an individual finds a higher level of meaning in what they are doing.

No wonder why the top three round-robin teams each clinched their positions with ease, while most of the other teams struggled to even know if and when they would be boarding a plane this weekend…..

The Crusaders topped the log with 58 points and have been the form team – fully capable of taking their game to that next level.

But, it’s the tragic events in Christchurch earlier this year, which will see them taking E-Power to the next level – with their ‘Crusaders’ brand strategy currently under review.

Playing in front of an emotional home crowd, it’s highly unlikely that they will come up short this year.

They will be playing with a significantly higher level of meaning.

Second placed Jaguares have been playing superb rugby of late – winning nine of their last ten encounters.

They are the side with momentum – plus home-ground advantage into the semi-finals.

It will be only the second time they have qualified for the play-offs.

Playing in front of a partisan home crowd, they will be hard to beat, especially given that their opponents, the Chiefs, are the only team to have beaten them on home soil this season.

They will be looking to reverse that result – and carry their impetus into their national team for RWC 2019.

 

On paper it appears that the Sharks have an easier route to the semis, by escaping a quarter- final trip to Christchurch or Buenos Aires – but this will definately not be the case – given recent announcements at the Brumbies.

E- Power will be at its maximum for the Brumbies who will see their captain and inspirational cancer survivor, Christian Lealiifano, playing his last home game for the team that has been his life for 12 years –  having made 148 appearances.

I got an offer from Japan that was too hard to turn down  – with my young boy and my wife, and not getting any younger as well, so I thought it was time to think about them rather than myself.

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar, had the following words for the Brumbies great:

You will not meet a more selfless person than Christian Lealiifano.To go through what he went through, and to come back and still find time to lead and care for those around him, to be there for his team-mates, he’s an incredible person.

What’s more – is that the Brumbies will play for national pride – being the only Australian team left flying the flag in Super 16.

On the other hand, there still exists that outside chance of a semi- final in Durban, if the Sharks can overcome the odds in Canberra – as well as the Chiefs over-coming the odds in Buenos Aires!

Go Sharks!

Whatever happens, any team taking on the top three this weekend will need to be fully prepared to come against one of life’s greatest forces – collective E-Power.

E-Power takes teams to that next level of performance – and contribution.
