The main idea in life is not to become the richest man in the cemetery
At age 56, Steve Jobs was worth a staggering 56 billion dollars.
His genius helped to create one of the world’s most valuable brands.
Tragically at age 56, he succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
What can we all learn from his genius, yet tragic life?
At THE GAME PLAN, the majority of my time is invested in helping people ‘to improve their lives’ , but the area which I find most rewarding and I’m most proud of , is the time I donate to help people ‘to save their lives’ – especially those who are facing up to some of life’s greatest challenges .
Undoubtedly, one of these great challenges is cancer.
One in four South Africans is associated with cancer in some form or another. Either they have it themselves, or they have a relative or a friend battling the dis –ease.
Whether it’s something as life threatening as cancer, something far less serious, or just that overwhelming feeling of ‘Burn Out’ at year end, your vitality can easily be lost by not investing wisely in your health and happiness.
As we approach the year-end finish line , please allow me to share game-changing insights, innovation and inspiration – all derived from live case studies in the field of WELLNESS at THE GAME PLAN.
It’s the stuff you cannot Google.
Most importantly, it’s the stuff that can help you to :
RE-CHARGE, RE-FINE and RE- BOOT
for a cracker year in 2017 – in both your professional and personal life.
Consider this game-changing wisdom shared by one of Briton’s greatest ever middle distance athletes:
We all have a finite amount of energy. Whether you use physical or mental energy it all comes from the same source. Wherever you focus your energy you’re either filling or depleting the same well: Sebastian Coe
Sebastian Coe has got it right.
We all have ONE finite energy well. And it’s a well which comes with three vital energy buckets- namely:
Physical, Chemical and Emotional.
It’s our human task to manage these three energy buckets optimally in order to keep our energy levels optimal – and we must ensure that the well never runs dry.
But, sometimes we get it humanly wrong – when we fail to observe one of the most powerful universal laws of life and health – the law of balance.
It reads like this:
Too much or too little of anything for too long – will create a state of imbalance.
And it’s this ongoing imbalance which leads to the loss of our health and happiness.
Getting it humanly wrong can lead to the onset of a minor state of dis-ease such as a mild headache – right through to a life threatening dis-ease such as cancer
Let’s now explore these three vital energy buckets.
Luckily, we are pretty adept when using the physical bucket – what we do to our bodies.
We know how much sleep we need, we know how mush exercise we need .We know how much sun we need. We get it right on most occasions.
The very same goes for the chemical bucket – what we take into our bodies.
The human body is quick to signal us when it does not agree with what is taken in through the mouth.
It reacts in many ways from indigestion, heart burn, bloating, and diarrhea – right through to that festive hangover.
Again the key is balance. It’s important to get the acid / alkaline intake just right – so that the human body has a chance to do its job right.
It works pretty much like your swimming pool. Getting the acid /alkaline PH levels right guarantees a sparking pool .Getting the PH levels wrong guarantees a murky pool.
We must eat right to allow our digestive system to do its job right – and provide us with the right energy.
With both the physical and chemical buckets, we instinctively know when we have underdone or overdone it, but now we come to the least understood bucket – by far.
It’s the emotional bucket – what we put in our minds.
It’s here that we often find ourselves in some kind of trouble.
It’s here that we can unwittingly and habitually drain and deplete the human energy well at an alarming rate – and not even know that we are doing it.
Most people have little or no idea how holding on to negative toxic emotions can play havoc with their life and health.
Here are a few pointers to guide you, taken from hundreds of case studies done at THE GAME PLAN where we have successfully helped many to transform illness into wellness.
The Big Five emotional drainers, sometimes even killers, are:
RESENTMENT, GUILT, CRITICISM, HATE and FUTILITY /SELF PITY
They are the fuel of many states of dis-ease .
Holding on to any of these highly toxic emotions long term , creates a state of imbalance – triggering a state of dis-ease.
A tipping point is reached and breached. The body sends out a physical response to wake you up to the urgent need to restore life balance.
Now you know.
Life Balance is by far the most potent drug on the market
Please do take heed, as we all have a vast power and potential within us to create our own illness or wellness.
Luckily, we live in a universe which manifests balance, and our lives are lived mostly by abundance – if we choose to focus our emotional energies on what are the greatest drivers of Health and Happiness
They’re also the greatest healers in life.
Here they are:
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, GRATITUDE, ACCEPTANCE, FORGIVENESS and JOY
Think about these for a while. This is why dogs are known as man’s best friend. They’re constantly reminding us on how to live life the right way – to live the journey.
Your well being will always be determined by how you choose to fill or drain the human energy well.
Please choose wisely in 2017.
Be human smart . Strive to live a life full of balance.
It’s all brilliantly captured by these wise words – spoken many moons back by Brain Dyson – then CEO of Coca Cola.
Nothing changes.
Imagine your life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air.
You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit – and you are keeping all of these in the air.
You’ll soon discover that work is a rubber ball .If you drop it – it will bounce back.
But, the other four balls are made of glass .If you drop these they will irrevocably scuffed, marked , nicked, damaged or even shattered .They will never be the same.
You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. Here’s how:
Don’t undermine yourself by comparing yourself with others .It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Don’t set goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
Don’t take for granted the things closet to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life for without them, life is meaningless.
Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.
Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other.
Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn to be brave.
Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give, the fastest way to lose love is to hold and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also whereyou are going.
Don’t forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.
Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.
Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is gift.
That’s is why they call it ‘THE PRESENT “
Happy holidays to you and your family:
