Comair is playing it right.
After taking a few unfair blows of late, Comair is using business rescue for the purpose it is intended.
What’s more, Covid-19 will turn out to be their blessing in disguise.
It’s given a proud SA company their rightful opportunity to:
RE-SIZE.RECONFIGURE.RE-IMAGINE.
My bet is that they will come out the other side of ‘Business Rescue’– with flying colours.
Through voluntary business rescue, they have given themselves ‘some time out’ to build a brand new COMAIR – a more agile, more digitised and more customer centric one.
This is a necessary process to ensure a focused restructuring of the company takes place as quickly as possible so we can take to the skies again as a sustainable business and play our part in the county’s airline industry,” Comair’s CEO Wrenelle Stander
What’s required now is a focused turnaround plan – without undue pressure from creditors.
A brand new ‘RESIZED COMAIR” will emerge post Covid-19.
This will place them in a great position to take full advantage of lower fuel costs, coupled with less competition (no SAA and SA EXPRESS) in the SA skies.
South Africans have been loyal fans of the big green planes for nearly two decades.
Whether it’s flying for business or leisure, they sure would love to be back in the skies – sooner rather than later.
Flying will be certainly be different, but I believe that Comair will be :
One of the great SA comeback stories in the second half of 2020.
Everything’s gonna be ok.
With their shares currently suspended, Comair shareholders will have to ‘VASBYT’ for a little while……..
But, they too will shortly see that Covid-19 was indeed a blessing in disguise for the team in green.
Those who bought Comair shares at the R1.00 low point, are highly likely to be receiving an early Christmas present this year – wrapped in green.
