On the 20th January 2017, Donald Trump will be sworn in on the steps of the US Capitol, to become the 45th President of the United States.

How did he achieve something that most people thought was highly improbable?

While Hilary Clinton  was conducting a powerful  ‘ Selling and Marketing’ election campaign, Donald Trump operated at another level.

He spoke to Americans , taking them on a potent journey of RE-BRANDING:

A journey of RE- THINK, RE -IMAGINE. RE- BRAND

Branding invokes an emotional response.

Donald Trump tapped into American hearts – he tapped into the essence of BRAND AMERICA , leveraging social media to the full .

He’s the embodiment of the American dream, having built his empire from nothing and failed many times, and still gone on to achieve greatness – Sylvester Chauke: DNA Brand Architects.

To hear some tell it. November 8th 2016 was a day that will now live in branding infamy, spawning an emotional response the likes of which no other American election has ever seen.

A branding journey comes with three potent legs:

Donald Trump’s astonishing elevation to the job of the world’s most powerful man came on the back of a very high level game plan which resonated with more than enough Americans – those hard up and fed up with modern America.

A Leader is a dealer in hope.

Yes, this may be true, but Donald Trump had something more – a brilliantly articulated and executed game plan.

And at the helm of any great GAME PLAN stands a potent word which inspires people into action, namely: PURPOSE.

For Donald Trump, it was a cleverly articulated purpose which spoke to Americans.

TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN

With purpose anything becomes possible.

‘The Why’ is far more powerful than ‘The How’, ‘The What’ and ‘The Where ‘?

History tells us so much:

For Winston Churchill it was to inspire hope. For Nelson Mandela it was to create freedom for all. For Bill Gates it’s to empower people to do more. For Elon Musk it’s to make this a better world – and helping people to do life better.

For all these great leaders there’s sustained success and significance in wanting to elevate one’s country to the next level – wanting to elevate humanity.

Purpose exponentially elevates performance. It packs the power into game plan.

Let’s take an inside look at purpose :

Purpose happens when one’s passion meets the universe’s need.

As one grasps the bigger picture, meaning is found, and with meaning anything becomes possible. One goes on to share what one is expert in  – and great vision and great value gets imparted to the world.

Purpose is a journey  –  a never ending story which evolves over time , yet can never be completed.

Purpose is imagination.

America is sure to face ongoing challenges, but for Donald Trump, it’s an ongoing  journey of helping to make America great again – a journey from Good to Great to Greater.

As Walt Disney put it so aptly:

Disneyland will never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world.

Former US President Woodrow Wilson said:

You are not here to merely make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.

Americans have clearly chosen a business leader who has never been short on imagination.

Take heed Brand South Africa. It’s time.

We are a country blessed with unlimited potential.
