Cricket Australia has got it wrong.
Steve Smith and David Warner are the first guys I would pick in my team.
Abundant talent. Abundant passion.
Misguided intention.
We are all human beings.
We get things wrong at times.
That’s why CEO’s (and the highest level coaches in today’ professional sporting arena) get paid in telephone numbers:
to build culture – to build brands – to build players
Australia’s James Sutherland (CEO) and Darren Lehmann (Coach) have failed CRICKET AUSTRALIA – BRAND AUSTRALIA.
Why the Australian cricket board did not fire both of them – leaves one wandering the real future of Australian cricket.
Darren Lehmann was allowed to just walk away – resign.
Not removing their CEO – their chief strategist – was wrong.
Dishing out hefty bans to players is tantamount to addressing the symptom – not the real cause.
Both the CEO and the coach have guided the Australian ”cricketing missile‘’ for a protracted period of time – fostering and allowing the ‘’cheat culture’’ to take hold.
To put the blame on a few select players is foolhardy.
The problem runs far deeper.
Cricket Australia needs a rethink – if they are to bounce back stronger.
