What the Proteas can learn from our Rugby World Cup Champions…..and England as well.

Our cricketers ( and all of us ) can certainly learn from our rugby champions – and England as well.

In rugby, it’s unlikely that you will win many games at the top level, without an ‘ENFORCER’ in your pack

An enforcer is the one who ‘controls the game’ – and  inspires confidence and certainty in his team mates.

At RWC 2019, we were lucky to have two such enforcers in our pack –  Eben Etzebeth and Duane Vermeulen – and we walked away as the Rugby World Champions.

An inspired team effort where we played the game according to our game plan – not our opponent’s game plan.

In cricket, your enforcer is more aptly called your ‘DOMINATOR’.

He’s the player who dominates and dictates the way the game gets played.

He’s the player in the team who allows others in the team to play more freely .

He’s the one player who helps his team mates to reach their own highest potential.

He’s the catalyst for team and individual performance excellence.

England certainly has found their dominator in Ben Stokes – performing at that supreme next level in the summer of 2020 – and taking The Man of the Series award.

The key message from RWC 2019 – and the English cricket tour 2020, must be….

If you want to build Faith, Confidence & Belief (FCB) in your team – the cocktail of any winning team – you must ensure that you have an enforcer/ dominator in your team.

With decimals dividing those at the top of the world rankings, they are the key to winning teams.

To turn around their current fortunes, the Proteas need AB de Villiers to make a speedy comeback.

When you have someone like AB in your pack – things are different.

Bowlers, who sometimes seem invincible, suddenly lose their rhythm – lose their line and length – and lose their momentum.

Others in the team get the opportunity to play “ with and around your dominator”.

The game becomes an easier game – played on your terms – and not on your opponent’s terms.

That is how the Boks lifted the RWC.

AB is the key to rebuilding the PROTEAS.

# PROTEAFIRE.

# ABdeVilliers.

PS:  And please guys – let’s all back off calling for FAF’s early resignation. He has led the Proteas with distinction, dignity and class through one of our most challenging periods of transformation. #strongertogether. It’s a journey that has taken him perilously close to burn out. What he needs now is more support, not more challenge or criticism.

An E- charged Brandon Grace was near-impossible to stop at SA OPEN.

It took me long enough to get my hands on this trophy.” Brandon Grace.

Spare a thought for Louis Oosthuizen last weekend.

With superb rounds of 65, 69, 64 and 68 – plus an ace at the 8th on Sunday, Louis must have thought he had the SA OPEN trophy in his bag – for a second time at Randpark Golf Club.

But, it was not to be.

In sport, sometimes – someone – somewhere – has just got your number.

And time and time again in sport –  it’s closely connected with what is termed E-Power ….. the power which comes from very high emotional energy levels .

Brandon Grace came flying through the field with a red hot putter – and final round 62 to win by three strokes.

Spectacular golf at its best.

It’s near impossible to stop someone who is that hot on the day and driven by emotion.

The combined emotional energy of having never won the SA Open, his wife’s birthday, having his son Richard close by, his home crowd – all gave him the extra emotional energy to power himself to victory.

It was his first win since November 2017, when he lifted the Nedbank Challenge trophy at Sun City – his world ranking having plummeted to 129th.

This is the one I wanted. I’ve won the Dunhill, the Nedbank, the Joburg Open and Dimension Data – this is the one I really wanted to get my hands on. Being the second oldest event in the world means a lot and it also means so much to win it in South Africa in front of the home fans. When I saw I was tied or one ahead, I kept on pushing. In the past I might have put the brakes on, but today was a different scenario. I stayed in the moment. Brandon Grace

Brandon Grace gave it his all – and when one is at ease and fully prepared to also lose it all – one becomes a deadly, dangerous and destructive opponent.

It’s the very same in sport ,business and in life

Scientists have proven that E. Power – the power which comes from very high levels of emotional energy, can lift one’s performance levels by as much as 40 %

Human emotion is the ultimate resource – the ultimate force : Anthony Robbins

Let’s hope that kind of emotion can drive Brandon Grace to don a green jacket this year come April….…like so many other great South African golfers.

Champion South Africans.

Key Insight :

E-Power can suddenly turn the underdog into the chief destroyer.
