‘Cowboys don’t cry‘ : Naas Botha
What an epic game of rugby on Saturday.
Brilliantly refereed by Welshman Nigel Owens – who allowed the tries to flow by putting advantage before infringement.
But, in one incident on the 67 minute mark, Nigel Owens and both his assistant referees, did get it badly wrong.
The incident was reminiscent of Sonny Bill’s red card during the most recent British Lions series.
Kieran Reed charging into a ruck to clean out François Louw – with a deliberate and dangerous swinging elbow to Louw’s head.
Francois Louw was knocked back – nearly knocked out – but he got up and continued playing immediately.
In the British Lions series a number of Lions players threw up their arms in dismay – and demanded that the French referee put a stop to the game and call in the television referee.
The Springboks did not.
Sonny Bill got a red, becoming the first All Black since Colin Meads to be sent off.
The Springboks accepted Willie Le Roux’s yellow card for deliberate off-sides, which happened ten seconds after Kieran Reed, had deliberately offended.
The Boks simply kept playing.
They kept defending with blood, sweat and tears.
This shows the true character within this new Bok team.
It also shows the close bond which exists between the All Blacks and the Bokke.
And it speaks volumes about the camaraderie between two great rugby nations, and why these two teams have beers in the change room after the game.

”Gratitude reciprocates”: Matthew McConaughey
There can be nothing better than watching a great comeback story in sport – and in life.
Last night I sat glued to the television watching American golfer , Keegan Bradley do just that at the BMW Championship – shooting a spectacular final round 64 – and then going on to win in a high drama playoff versus Justin Rose
What’s more – it could not have come at a better time after a fellow American – a 23 times major tennis champion, Serena Williams ‘played victim’ over the weekend.
Keegan Bradley’s victory at the BMW Championship was his first in more than six years. He jumped to sixth in the FedEx Cup standings to qualify for the TOUR Championship for the first time since 2013.
But, it was his post win interviews which resonated most:
It’s scary when I look back because I didn’t know I needed this much improvement, but to put it all together, is so gratifying, because for a little while, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to get back to this spot, and today I did it. Keegan Bradley
You go so long without seeing the results, then they finally come and it’s all worth it: Keegan Bradley
This is just incredible. It’s been a long hard road back .A lot of people helped me. Thank you to everybody. Keegan Bradley
When Matthew McConaughey told 43 million Oscar viewers that “gratitude reciprocates,” it reinforced the lesson that counting one’s blessings increases them.
Well done Keegan.
Well done Justin Rose on becoming World Number One.
Hopefully Serena has had some time to reflect.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, and confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow :Melody Beattie

‘Strategy without execution is worthless’
It’s MODULE THREE time.
It’s time for action.
Via completing MODULE ONE you have clarity on your PURPOSE – and via completing MODULE TWO you have clarity on your BIG FIVE PRIORTITIES in life.
These are the potent ‘P’s which lie below the ocean with our Iceberg model.
Now it’s time to pull it all together, with the final ‘P’ in the personal branding equation – the setting of your personal :
Performance Goals.
It’s the ‘P’ which everyone sees above the water.
It’s transparent in life, and even more so in sport.
It’s the ‘P’ which imparts your bit of magic on our world.
First up let’s visit management guru Peter Ducker’s way of setting performance goals.
He introduced the concept of SMART goals.
To make your goals S.M.A.R.T, they need to be:
Specific– target a specific area for improvement.
Measurable– quantify or at least suggest an indicator of progress.
Assignable– specify who will do it.
Realistic– state what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources.
Time-related– specify when the result(s) can be achieved.
This all sounds far too business like.
Let’ take another angle on what drives success – when it comes to setting personal performance goals?
What determines human great, while others fall into the trap of average – the trap linked to an ugly ‘P’ called PROCRASTINATION?
Here’s one of the secrets of the great champions.
When your Purpose, your Priorities and your Performance goals are authentic, aligned and achievable you’ll achieve your greatest level of creativity, growth and contribution
The three A’s are the difference between seeking daily motivation – or delivering on inspired daily ACTION.
AUTHENTICITY:
Be a first-rate version of yourself, not a second-rate version of somebody else : Judy Garland.
You have to be who you are.
If you set personal goals that are not your own, it will be near impossible for you to play at the level of great.
You will constantly be looking for external motivation.
Inspiration comes from setting personal goals from within – setting authentic goals.
ALIGNMENT:
Your goals need to be closely aligned with your PURPOSE and your PRIORITIES.
If you fail to align them, you stand a high risk of falling into the human indecision trap of PROCRASTINATION.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines procrastination as a postponement, “often with the sense of deferring though indecision, when early action would have been preferable, or as “defer[ing] action, especially without good reason.”
When Tiger Woods dominated world golf, sport psychologist Steven Kosslyn had this to say about a man who was voted sporting superstar of the decade:
In Tiger’s head there is an orchestra. And it’s not just that some of the orchestra players are virtuosos. A lot of them are. He has all the aces.
Alignment orchestrates success.
When his life began to unravel from 2008, even Tiger felt how hard life can be when things are not aligned.
Scientists have now proven that cyclists can enjoy a 40 % energy saving when they ride in what’s called a peloton.
This is alignment at is best.
Make your life easier by riding with all your 3 ‘P’s aligned.
ACHIEVABLE:
Your personal goals must be achievable.
Unrealistic goals will demotivate you .Unrealistic expectations will sap your energy levels.
We all need to celebrate milestones.
Achievable also means keeping it all simple.
Do not set too many goals. Set just three for your current year.
Remember that focus drives extraordinary success.
Success begets success when one narrows one’s concentration.
Focusing on too many things will lead to discord and underperformance.
You’re ready, jot them down:
Keep it all simple with just three goals for 2018 /19:
Goal Number One:…………………………………………….
Goal Number Two:……………………………………………
Goal Number Three:………………………………………….
Here’s how one of the world’s greatest golfers valued execution:
